A Government-Backed Skill Development Initiative in Logistics
India’s logistics and supply chain sector is rapidly becoming one of the strongest pillars of the country’s economic growth. Every product we use — medicines, electronics, food, fashion, automobiles — travels through a vast network of ports, warehouses, cargo terminals, trucks and distribution centres before reaching consumers.
Managing this complex movement requires trained and skilled logistics professionals and the demand for such professionals is increasing across India.
To support this national requirement, the Government of India has created a structured skill development ecosystem through sector-specific skill councils that standardize training and certification for different industries.
A National Skill Development Initiative
In the logistics sector, this responsibility is entrusted to the Logistics Sector Skill Council.
The council functions under the National Skill Development Corporation and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship as part of the Government of India’s national skill development mission.
The objective of this initiative is to build a skilled workforce for India’s rapidly expanding logistics industry by creating standardized occupational roles, industry-aligned training frameworks and nationally recognized certifications.
